Solar City's role on the LAD3 scheme

Operating directly from our depot at Unit 18, The Business Centre, 20 James Road, Tyseley, Birmingham B11 2BA, Solar City delivered the end-to-end solar PV package across all 348 homes in partnership with Dodd Group:

1. Property surveys & roof engineering

Conducting roof-by-roof structural, shading and electrical assessments across Victorian terraces, inter-war semi-detached housing and post-war properties in Balsall Heath, Acocks Green and Tyseley so each array was safely sized for its roof plane.

2. In-house MCS installation

Coordinating roof mounting, DC containment, inverter installation and AC testing under our MCS certification (NIC-1542) and RECC consumer code standards (00040355), working around occupied households with minimal disruption.

3. Commissioning, DNO & resident handover

Completing electrical testing, DNO notifications to National Grid Electricity Distribution, MCS certification and resident handover packs across all 348 properties totaling 896 kWp installed.

Why local fuel-poverty delivery matters in Birmingham

According to the DESNZ Sub-regional Fuel Poverty statistics (2026), the West Midlands recorded the highest regional fuel poverty rate in England at 12.1% of households, with Birmingham at 13.8%. Installing 896 kWp of rooftop solar PV across 348 homes in Balsall Heath, Acocks Green and Tyseley permanently reduced daytime grid import for hundreds of families right on our doorstep.

Whether we are delivering a 348-home local authority programme with Dodd Group, a commercial rooftop or solar car port project, or a private 8 to 16 panel home solar and battery installation, the same Tyseley engineering team stands behind the work.
